Natcha Cultural Tours | Bondi Beach & Sydney Harbour, Bidjigal & Eora Country
Burri Burri Private
Whale Cruise
A cultural walk on Country, native foods at Rose Bay, and a private whale-watching cruise on Sydney Harbour.
Every winter, humpback whales travel up the east coast of Australia, a journey their ancestors have made for thousands of years. Burri Burri, the whale spirit, holds a special place along the cultural Eora coast.
This private experience brings two ways of meeting the whales together: walking the Bondi coastline with a Traditional Custodian, then boarding a private boat on Sydney Harbour with an expert whale guide. A full private charter for up to 34 guests, ideal for schools, corporate groups and private occasions.
This is not a history lesson. This is living culture.
What You Will Experience
Welcome & Acknowledgement
Meet at Bondi Pavilion at 9am to be welcomed onto Bidjigal Country. Your guide shares who they are, the people they descend from, and the protocols of walking respectfully on Country.
Coastline Walk & Rock Engravings
Walk the Bondi headland cliff path, then visit the engravings site to sit with the sandstone carvings up close and learn the cultural significance of this place.
Burri Burri, the Whale Spirit
At the lookout your guide shares the story of Burri Burri and the whale’s place along the cultural Eora coast. Watch the horizon for spouts, breaches and tail slaps as the migration passes by.
Native Morning Tea & Smoking Ceremony
Head to Rose Bay wharf for a morning tea of native ingredients. Before boarding, a smoking ceremony is held to show respect to the ocean as we enter the water to meet the whales.
Whale Watching Cruise on Sydney Harbour
From 12:30 to 2:30 we board our private boat and cruise onto Sydney Harbour with expert whale guide Medde, who has worked and swum with whales for over a decade, before returning to Rose Bay wharf.
